Typical day for an agent

Before I get started please note that in reality there isn’t really a typical day as they can vary a surprising amount. It is the part of the job that I enjoy the most. However I do try to put some structure into my day as I do not think I would get anything done otherwise.

Below is a little snippet of what I try to do in my day:

7.30am:

Arrive into the office. This is the quietest part of the day and the time I find when I can check over everything that either needs to be completed, requires a follow up or that has been completed. This usually involves a chat with the boss to make sure we are up to date on running the office as well. Ideally I like to have this finished, with my emails up to date by 9am.

9-12:

This is where the structure of the day becomes varied. I can be out on valuations, taking property details, doing viewings and many other things. If I am not out and about then I am in the office either working through tasks (follow ups, writing up instructions etc) or speaking to my colleagues to see where they have been and what their thoughts were. I think it is very important as we may have insights that will be useful for them.

12-2pm:

Lunchtime is a very busy time for viewings and meetings as this is free time for the majority of people. I try to keep it free in order to be available. This does mean that I usually have an early lunch.

2-4pm:

Much like the morning this time is taken up with appointments and completing as many tasks as possible.

4-6pm

After work is a very busy time for agents, especially in the summer as this is when a lot of applicants like to view properties. This does mean that we can be working till rather late in the summer. However winter gives us a little respite from this.

With the flexible nature of our job you may see me doing errands or training at odd times. This is mainly because it is the only time I can fit it in and maintain some balance. Broadlands have a varied bunch of negotiators and you may find that their day is much different to mine. Some may enjoy fishing in their free time while others will hang out with their children or go boxing
